Film

Rand Abdul Nour is a multidisciplinary production designer working across narrative film, television, and commercial media. Her portfolio includes local, regional and international productions, including collaborations with Netflix, Marvel Studios, Lionsgate, and Disney+.
Her approach emphasizes narrative-driven visual environments, from large-scale action films to independent dramas. She is proficient in visual script analysis, spatial design, and material execution across pre-production and on-set phases.

Community

Rand Abdul Nour is the co-founder of Alolbah + Almasbak, a grassroots initiative focused on democratizing access to art through community-led programs. The project provides women and underserved groups with art kits, structured workshops, and exhibition opportunities.
Her outreach work integrates visual arts with education, aiming to foster creative agency in non-institutional settings. She designs curriculum modules, leads hands-on sessions, and builds sustainable frameworks for community engagement.

Academia

Rand Abdul Nour has held academic roles in leading institutions, including King’s Academy and the University of Jordan, where she taught fine arts and led program development.
As Head of the Fine and Performing Arts Department at King’s Academy, she directed strategic planning, restructured curricula, and launched interdisciplinary programs such as the AP Studio Art program and has developed a fabrication space. She has instructed undergraduate and high school students in visual, and political arts.

Rand Abdul Nour’s visual art practice focuses on themes of memory, identity, and cultural/Sociopolitical narrative. Working primarily in painting, sculpture, and mixed media, her work often integrates traditional techniques with contemporary forms.
She has exhibited in solo and group shows across Jordan, and the United States, including the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Artisana Gallery 14, and MMAG Foundation.
Her artistic process is research-driven and materially sensitive.

Biography

Rand Abdul Nour is a multidisciplinary artist and storyteller whose practice spans production design, fine arts, education, and community-based initiatives. Working across drawing, painting, and scenic environments, her work explores themes rooted in the human experience, often shaped by a sociopolitical lens and a strong connection to the natural world.

Her art explores a wide range of human experiences with a sociopolitical perspective, often grounded in academic principles and enriched by her fascination with the natural world. Rand’s artistic journey includes solo and joint exhibitions in the United States and Jordan.Her visual art has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in both the United States and Jordan, blending academic depth with experimentation and material sensitivity.
Rand’s journey into film began during her undergraduate studies. Since then, she has established herself as a production designer, art director, set decorator, and scenic artist working internationally across narrative features, television, music videos, and commercials. Her credits include production design for Norah, which premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival in the Un Certain Regard section and received a Special Mention from the jury. She was set decorator on Dune: Part Two, nominated for Best Production Design and winner of Best Visual Effects at the 2025 Academy Awards, and on John Wick: Chapter 4, nominated for an Art Directors Guild Award for Excellence in Production Design. Rand also served as production designer on The Alleys, now streaming on Netflix. Other credits include set decoration on Sergio, which premiered at Sundance and was released by Netflix, and production design for Seasons 1 and 2 of Netflix’s critically acclaimed Arabic-language series Al Rawabi School for Girls.
In parallel with her creative practice, Rand has contributed meaningfully to arts education in Jordan. She has taught at the University of Jordan and at King’s Academy, where she later led the Department of Fine and Performing Arts. Her teaching emphasized experimentation, critical thinking, and the development of original artistic voices.
Her belief in art as a tool for access and self-expression also led to the co-founding of AlMasbak, a community-based initiative. Under AlMasbak, she co-developed Alolbah, a grassroots platform designed to foster self-directed creativity in communities where art education is often undervalued.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of Jordan and an MFA in Painting and Drawing from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, which she completed as a Fulbright Scholar. Through her creative and collaborative work across disciplines, Rand Abdul Nour continues to shape compelling visual narratives and support the transformative potential of art in both personal and collective contexts.
